The Archdiocese of New York proclaimed Monday, March 28, 2022 as a Day of Prayer for Ukraine for all Catholic schools within the Archdiocese. Here at St. Raymond, students, faculty and staff were invited to wear blue and yellow, the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Two prayers services (for Kindergarten through Grade 4, and for Grades 5 through 8) were held in our auditorium to pray for peace in Ukraine, and for all those who are suffering and those who have already died there. Our choir sang at both services.

St. Raymond Elementary School band and cheerleaders once again marched in the Throggs Neck St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade on McLean Avenue after a two-year absence due to COVID 19. The Throggs Neck parade was held on Sunday, March 13. The Yonkers parade was held on Saturday, March 19. All the photos of both parades were taken and graciously provided by one of our parents, Lara Miranda. The first two collages are from the Throggs Neck parade; the last two from the Yonkers parade.

Today, February 15, 2022, is our 100th day of school. Students in Kindergarten and Grades 1 and 2 celebrated 100 Days by dressing as centenarians. All three grades paraded throughout the school. They were joined by two of our assistant principals, Mr. Hyman and Ms. D'Arco, who also dressed for the occasion.
Mr. Hyman and Ms. D'Arco celebrated 100 Days of School in style!
Kindergarten West students and their teacher, Ms. Gioia (on the right), decked out in gray wigs, hair curlers, canes and bowties were a sight for the ages (or should that be "aged"?)
Kindergarten East students showed their age today. Their hair may be gray but at least they have hair!
Kindergarten West and Kindergarten East each awarded prizes to the best two costumes (one boy and one girl) in the class. Mr. Scanlon and Sr. Josefa were the judges. The winners for K West are Jayana Fernandez and Adrian Zorsa. The winners for K East are Mi Amor Simmons and Christopher Goodwin. Congratulations to the four winners!
Happy 100 Days of School to all our students and staff. Thank you to Ms. Gioia, Kindergarten West teacher, for organizing the celebration.
Students in Mrs. Herrmann's Pre-K3 East class celebrated Catholic Schools Week by honoring first responders.
