St. Raymond Elementary School students in UPK 3 through 2nd Grade radically aged overnight when they dressed as centernarians to celebrate 100 Days of School on Wednesday, February 15. Wearing caps, mustaches and gray wigs (some with curlers in their hair!); using canes; and wearing clothing favored by some great grandparents, boys and girls took on the appearance of much, much older people. St. Raymond's marching band led the students in a parade throughout the building that ended in the gym. Older students and staff on every floor cheered for them. News 12 The Bronx's Elly Morillo -- an alumna of St. Raymond Elementary School and St. Raymond Academy for Girls -- visited our school that day. Click here to see the news clip. Thank you to our students who participated and to Elly Morillo and News 12 The Bronx!

For at least a decade, students in Cardinal Spellman High School's Student Government have been sponsoring an annual Give-a-Gift Program at Christmas. Every year, the students, known as senators, purchase and wrap gifts for a number of our students. Each year, we are grateful for their generosity. It was time for us to do a little something for them. On Monday, February 6, we brought Dunkin hot chocolate and Munchkins for the 75 senators and the Student Government moderator, teacher Cristina Rosado. Below, the students enjoy their treat during their monthly meeting. Thank you, Ms. Rosado and the Student Government senators, for all you have done for our students.
This week is Catholic Schools Week. Every day, we did something to celebrate Catholic schools. We hled Student Appreciation Day on Monday. We had a dress down day for a cause on Tuesday and raised $1,553 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. On Wacky Wednesday, students and staff dressed up in mismatched clothing, colorful hats and socks, and some wore at least one piece of clothing backwards! Thursday was Sports Day. Students and staff wore their favorite team's sports apparel and we held games and relays in the gym throughout the day.
On Friday, Father Cruz celebrated a closing Mass for the end of Catholic Schools Week in our auditorium. He also offered a blessing for the Feast of St. Blaise and blessed our throats.
