St. Raymond Elementary School offers our students a solid Catholic education — a strong academic program immersed in the Catholic faith and a broad array of extracurricular activities, in a safe, supportive and loving environment. We have worked hard to provide the best staff and resources available for the students entrusted to our care. We are constantly seeking to expand our offerings both within and outside the classroom in order to give our students the best education possible. But our tuition does not cover the cost of educating a child. We rely on support from our parish, alumni and friends, and from the Archdiocese of New York. Following are some ways you can help give our students the lifelong gift of a Catholic school education:
ANNUAL FUND
Gifts to the Annual Fund provide income for specific projects, as well as unrestricted funds.
SCHOLARSHIPS
We are designated an inner-city school and some of our families struggle to pay the tuition. The Financial Assistance Fund provides scholarships for students in need. Donate at the following levels or at an amount of your own choosing:
Catholic Educator $4,870 One Year’s Tuition*
Catholic Leader $2,435 Half-Year’s Tuition
Catholic Supporter $1,218 Quarter-Year’s Tuition
Catholic Booster $487 One Month’s Tuition
*All tuition figures are for the 2020-2021 non-parishioner rate for Kindergarten through Grade 8.
BRIDGE PROGRAM
The Bridge Program provides a small classroom setting for students below grade-level standards. Bridge students pay the same tuition as other students but due to the small class size, the cost of educating a child in the program is significantly higher than usual. Adopting a student for a half- or full year can help to offset these expenses. Donations can also help provide special resources such as reading and math coaches, and books and other learning materials for these students.
HONORS PROGRAM
St. Raymond Elementary School has a Pre-Honors 6th Grade class and an Honors Program for Grades 7 and 8. The Honors Program curriculum includes 9th Grade Math and Science, Regents Biology, Italian and Technology. These classes follow an extended day schedule and utilize enrichment opportunities, such as field trips. The Honors Program needs funding to underwrite field trips; to purchase additional technology, and for other opportunities to enhance our Honors students’ education.
TECHNOLOGY
Consistently enhancing our technology remains one of our highest priorities at St. Raymond. Keeping current with new technology is essential. We are not just preparing our students for high school. We are educating America’s future work force. To that end, we would like to purchase Chromebooks for Kindergarten through Grade 4.
We would also like to purchase NAO, a fully programmable humanoid robot manufactured that is capable of recognizing a large number of objects; can detect and recognize faces; can recognize speech; and can speak up to nine languages. Teaching students to program and utilize the robot can be incorporated into our STEM curriculum. Depending upon the bundle chosen, the NAO robot can range from $21,000 to $50,000.
ITALIAN PROGRAM
The majority of our students study Italian. They learn basic conversation, sentence structure and Italian culture. To assist their learning, donations are needed to purchase books, DVDs and CDs, and to fund field trips to cultural sights.
