St. Raymond Elementary School kicked off its 150th anniversary with a special Mass celebrated by His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan in the school’s auditorium on Thursday, October 4. Students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 attended the Mass.
Our pastor Father James Cruz concelebrated the Mass, along with Father Patrick Agbeko and Monsignor John Graham, the former pastor of St. Raymond Parish.
During the Mass, Principal Eugene Scanlon presented a book of 150 days of intentions honoring the Sisters of Charity to Sr. Helen McGovern, SC. The Sisters of Charity were the school’s first teachers when the school opened in 1868 and have been present in the school for most of its existence. Two Sisters of Charity still serve at the school today.
Thank you, Your Eminence. We loved having you here with us. Please come back and visit again soon! Photos by Colm Flynn.
