Approximately 80 Fifth Grade students went on a field trip to Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) in Queens on Monday, May 21, where they learned about environmental issues, walked in the woods, and saw a variety of animals.
The students in the following photos are in Class 5-26. Photos courtesy of their teacher, Ms. Amanda DeSalvo.
In the collage below left, an APEC staff member shows students a snake; in the right one, she wraps a fox skin around a student's neck while a student holding a rabbit skin looks on. Early Native Americans wore animal skins to keep warm.
In the collage below right, a student pets a turtle; bottom left, another students pets a rabbit.
