Congratulations to our 8th Grade Honors teacher Mrs. Lauren McClintock and to our 7th and 8th Grade Honors classes for creating a Living Wax Museum on Tuesday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 25 in the school’s gymnasium! The Living Wax Museum was Mrs. McClintock's idea and the projects were in lieu of the final Social Studies exam. The 32 students in the combined classes represented persons from history, sports, aviation, literature, exploration and other fields. Dressed as their chosen figure, the students came to life and performed for 90 seconds to their audience, sharing biographical information about their subject. Classes in Pre-K 3 through 8th Grade toured the Living Wax Museum led by a tour guide, who took them from station to station.
The Honors students chose a wide array of individuals to represent, including Osceola, Harry S. Truman, Abigail Adams, Albert Einstein, Zitkala-Sa, Charles Lindbergh, Frederick Douglass, John F. Kennedy, Jackie Robinson, Sojourner Truth, Amelia Earhart, Miguel Corte-Real, Sandra Day O’Connor, Pocahontas, Jane Adams, Upton Sinclair, Thurgood Marshall and others. Thank you to News 12 The Bronx for sending Josiah Darnell to interview us and cover the Living Wax Museum. Go to the following to see the news clip:
